About the Opportunity
We have multiple unique and impactful opportunities (Level A and level B) for candidates of indigenous heritage to join the College of Education, Psychology and Social Work to Lecturer in Social Work. As the successful candidate, you will contribute to quality research and the planning and delivery of topics within the suite of undergraduate and/or postgraduate topics/courses in Social Work with a focus on indigeneity and decolonisation, mental health and trauma informed approaches to practice, including skills development.
Some of the key responsibilities of the role at the Associate Lecturer (Level A) are:
- Contributing to the delivery and evaluation of contemporary and innovative learning and teaching experiences primarily within the suite of undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses.
- Contributing to teaching in Social Work with a focus on indigeneity and decolonisation, mental health and/or trauma informed approaches to practice, including skills development.
- Under direction undertaking or contributing to topic coordination.
- Engaging in inspiring and innovative teaching informed by approaches that enhance the student experience.
Some of the key responsibilities of the role at the Lecturer (Level B) are:
- Contributing to the planning, delivery and evaluation of lectures, tutorials, laboratory-based material or other teaching strategies, including placement education for topics, primarily within the suite of undergraduate and/or postgraduate topics/courses and undertake topic coordination.
- Delivering inspiring and innovative teaching informed by approaches that enhance the student experience and support students with academic and/or other challenges impeding their academic progress.
- Participating and contributing to ethical, high quality and innovative research and evaluation through activities such as scholarship, quality publication, external grant acquisition and presentation that aligns with the College areas of research strength and focus and contribute to supervision of student research programs.
- Actively participating in high performing multi-disciplinary teams with an education and research focus and contribute to the development of a respectful, trusting and collaborative working environment.

Some of the key position capabilities of the Associate Lecturer (Level A) include:
- As a minimum, satisfactory completion of a Bachelor of Social Work and/or Master of Social Work (qualifying) or equivalent qualification and experience in an area relevant to Social Work.
- Must be eligible for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
- Capability to deliver contemporary and innovative teaching with a focus on indigeneity and decolonisation, mental health and/or trauma informed approaches to practice, including skills development.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to successful experience training, mentoring and/or supervising students in order to maximise their learning.
- Demonstrated evidence of research and/or evaluation experience within Social Work or in an area relevant to Social Work.
Some of the key position capabilities of the Lecturer (Level B) include:
- Experience applying or embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges and ways of knowing and doing in teaching and research practice.
- Demonstrated evidence of a strong research track record (for career stage) in an area aligned with the College areas of strengths including evidence of quality publications and attraction of external competitive grants.
- A clear understanding of the nexus between teaching and learning, research and scholarship.
- Exemplary oral & written communication skills and interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish effective relationships with staff, students and industry.
