About the Role

The Aboriginal Senior Client Service Officer assists clients with complex support and housing needs, providing specialised advice and making referrals to appropriate support services. The role provides a broad range of tenancy and property management services and advice to clients, particularly those with an Indigenous background.

In these roles, you will be working across a range of Housing programs (including Rent Choice, Start Safely and Private Rental Brokerage), policies and systems to maximise efficiency and service delivery outcomes as well as providing training, coaching and support to team members.

Working collaboratively with Client Service Officers, Team Leaders, internal and external service providers, you will develop innovative strategies to deliver improved client outcomes and contribute to continual improvement in achieving key performance indicators for the District.

Essential Requirements

  • Applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent through parentage, identify as being an Australian Aboriginal and accepted in the community as such. Authorised under s14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW), Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational requirement for this position.
  • Possession of a minimum Provisional 2 NSW Driver’s Licence and a willingness to travel to and work with clients in their home (a corporate vehicle will be provided for travel between office and clients home).

In addition to meeting the essential requirements, the successful candidate will have the following:

  • Ability to work independently and manage your own work. Including working both independently and within a team environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • A commitment to a culture of teamwork, excellence and continuous improvement including the ability to receive feedback.
  • Client service skills with an empathic and respectful approach to clients.
  • A strong commitment to providing a respectful service, putting our clients at the centre of everything you do
  • Demonstrated experience in respectful cultural practice, building knowledge, understanding and competence for those you work with and yourself
  • Very high level of communication skills, both written and verbal, that demonstrate compassion, respect, empathy and clarity
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining transparent records using various software
  • A strong commitment to demonstrating integrity and accountability in every aspect of your work
