Aboriginal Caseworker – Goodradigbee PSP

About the role:

This is a full-time permanent position (38 hours per week) located at Goodradigbee  in Penrith with some travel across the region.

This is an identified position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. All applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage. Aboriginality is a genuine qualification authorised under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination ACT 1977

Goodradigbee Cultural and Heritage Aboriginal Corporation is working in partnership with Uniting to transfer Aboriginal children and young people in Uniting’s care who are living in Sydney by December 2024.

About the opportunity:

We’re looking for an experienced Aboriginal Caseworker to join our Permanency Support Program (PSP) team. The PSP is focused on providing safe, loving, and permanent homes for Aboriginal children and young people. You will be working with children, carers, and families to achieve positive permanency outcomes, including restoration or guardianship.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead case management to support the safety, well-being, and permanency of children aged 0-18.
  • Collaborate with families, carers, and community stakeholders to ensure culturally responsive support.
  • Develop and implement case plans that focus on the holistic needs of the child, including health, education, and cultural connections.
  • Ensure compliance with performance indicators, policies, and legal obligations.
  • Act as a champion for the voices of children and young people, ensuring their views shape the decisions that affect their lives.
  • Provide support to families during difficult processes such as restoration or transition between care placements.


About You:

You are passionate about working with Aboriginal communities and children, and you bring a deep understanding of cultural safety, child protection, and permanency planning. You are committed to helping children and young people grow up in safe, supportive environments that nurture their cultural identity and well-being.

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in social sciences or equivalent sector experience.
  • Experience in case management
  • Knowledge of child protection and experience working with vulnerable children and families.
  • Strong cultural competency and commitment to ensuring the voices of Aboriginal children and young people are heard.
  • Current NSW Drivers license
  • Current NSW WWCC
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required
