Tell us about your and your mob?

I’m a proud Bundjalung woman from the Minjungbal Tribe. I grew up on the Tweed Coast/Gold Coast and have lived here my whole life. 

 

Tell us about your career?

I work with a Indigenous organisation called RAILS support with NDIS clients. My role is a Support Coordinator which looks after clients’ funding. I set up supports, help clients understand their plan, establish and maintain supports, prepare plan review, change of situations and apply for NDIS plans. 

 

What pathway did you take to get to where you are?

I have a daughter on NDIS which I had to learn a lot on my own. I also have my little brother who is a part of NDIS which I have helped him set up, support and understand this plan. I got into this role as I’m passionate about helping those in need and having knowledge of this prior was a huge help.

 

What skills do you need to succeed in your role?

People person, Customer service, interpersonal skills, communication skills, team work, compassion, ability to meet deadlines, build a rapport with a diverse range of people in the community.

 

What is the deadliest thing about your career?

 Being able to see my client achieve their goals for sure!

 

What career advice would you give your mob?

Be yourself when working with Mob, don’t try to act like you’re better than them and treat them as you would anybody else.

 

What type of education, training and skills are required?

Have a Working with Children check, police check and NDIS worker screening check, driver license is also required to travel to clients houses for meetings.
