Helicopter Airframe Technician

Your role:

Be a tradie in the Navy working as an Helicopter Airframe Technician to maintain, repair and overhaul Seahawk Romeo helicopter aircraft systems, equipment and components, onboard ships and ashore.

 

Whether you already have a trade, you’re an apprentice, or you have no experience at all, we’re hiring. You’ll be paid from day one to gain all the skills needed with extensive on-the-job trade training and work towards a Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Mechanical).

Your duties include, but aren’t limited to maintaining:

  • Helicopter transmissions
  • Engine systems and controls
  • Auxiliary systems

Salary:

Upon completion of your initial military and employment training, you’ll enjoy a salary package starting from $81,452.

 

Period of Service requirements:

General Entry Sailor roles now have an Initial Minimum Period of Service (IMPS) between 2 and 3 years for all applicants.

 

Fitness requirements:

A Pre-entry Fitness Assessment (PFA) is no longer a requirement for Navy roles, except for Divers. To join the Navy, it’s important that you meet the necessary medical and physical requirements. Regular exercise prior to joining will set you up for success as it is an important part of training and service life.

Once you join, Navy will support your physical conditioning to ensure you’re prepared to serve. You’ll also have access to chef-made meals, gyms, sports and fitness sessions run by physical training instructors.
