These roles will involve a range of responsibilities, including reviewing and approving applications for financial assistance, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, and supporting Aboriginal victims of crime.

Other potential responsibilities include ensuring applications are ready for assessment, providing culturally appropriate advice and support to Aboriginal and other victims, and engaging directly with individuals and their support networks to assist in completing applications.

If you need adjustments to the recruitment process or an alternative format for application materials, please contact our Aboriginal Recruitment Team.

About us

The Department of Justice and Community Safety is committed to growing its Aboriginal workforce and strengthening its partnerships with the Aboriginal community. We aim to create culturally respectful workplaces that embrace the diversity of Aboriginal cultures while providing clear and accessible career development pathways. The Aboriginal Recruitment Team supports, attracts, recruits, and retains Aboriginal candidates through a culturally appropriate recruitment process.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest for various roles, including opportunities within the newly established Victims of Crime Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS). This landmark reform, created under the Victims of Crime (Financial Assistance Scheme) Act 2022, replaces the judicially based system with a trauma-informed administrative scheme focused on victims’ recovery. The FAS provides financial assistance through a simple, fair, and culturally safe process that acknowledges the harm done and responds to victims’ needs.

Your application will be retained in our talent pool, and our Aboriginal Recruitment Team will contact you regarding the progress of your application.

  • Aboriginal Assessor
