About the Company

The Department of Communities and Justice delivers legal, court and supervision services to the people of NSW (New South Wales) by managing courts and justice services, implementing programs to reduce crime and re offending, managing custodial and community-based correctional services, protecting rights and community standards and advising on law reform and legal matters.

Corrective Services NSW runs the state’s correctional centres, supervises offenders in the community, and delivers programs to reduce reoffending, support reintegration and build safer communities.

About the role

Reporting directly to the Director, the Principal Manager under provide strong leadership and high-level strategic advice to executive and senior managers regarding the implementation of Corrective Services NSW strategies to support Aboriginal offenders and the specific rehabilitation and re-integration needs of Aboriginal offenders in custody and in the community.

Provide quality information about CSNSW services and programs to communities and families of Aboriginal offenders and liaise with community agencies and community representatives to effectively enhance the transition of Aboriginal offenders from custody to the community.

There is newly approved budget for the Aboriginal Strategy & Policy division which means that you will be given the opportunity to oversee the recruitment for your team

About you

You will be someone who provides forward thinking and clearly articulated strategic direction and promotes a work environment that empowers, motivates, and develops a highly skilled team capable of delivering key project outcomes.

You’ll be a solution focussed leader with excellent stakeholder management skills to operate within a fast-paced project environment and can make decisions and recommendations on financial matters

An analytical minded individual, with a high level of IT skills, and who is culturally aware and passionate about making a difference

Essential Requirements:

  • Aboriginality with connection and understanding to community and country
  • Documented verification of Aboriginality
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Current and valid Driver Licence or willingness to gain one within 12 months of appointment as role will require travel within NSW.
  • Co Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons who are

Appointments are subject to reference checks. Some roles may also require the following checks/ clearances:

  • National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014
  • Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012
