Intake Worker

Location: Ringwood, on the lands of the Wurundjeri People
Employment Type: 0.8 FTE, part-time
Hourly Rate: $43.27 plus Generous Salary Packaging benefits of up to $18,550

About the Role

As an Intake Worker, you’ll play a critical role in providing intake and screening assessments for clients engaging with our Family Relationship Centre. You’ll assist callers in navigating the service system, ensuring they feel heard, respected, and supported.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake and screening assessments (via phone and in-person).
  • Assess client needs and guide them to appropriate services.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including risk assessments and safety planning.
  • Provide information, referrals, and resources for clients and professionals.
  • Engage respectfully with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Support practitioners to ensure clients’ best interests are served.
  • Participate in case discussions and, if accredited, conduct Family Dispute Resolution sessions.
  • Manage challenging behaviors with empathy and professionalism.

What You’ll Bring

  • Qualification in Social Work or equivalent or relevant work experience in Family
    programs.
  • Knowledge of the Family Relationship Centre Operational Framework, Family Law Act, and relevant legislation.
  • Experience in the post-separation sector and working with families.
  • Strong understanding of parental conflict’s impact on children and child development theories.
  • Skills in screening, assessment, and safety planning, with an understanding of family violence and mental health impacts.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in time management, organization, and IT systems.
  • Ability to manage challenging conversations with sensitivity and respect.
  • A commitment to providing culturally appropriate, high-quality client service.
