Indigenous Partnerships Strategy Manager

This is an Indigenous-identified position, open to individuals who identify as Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, or First Nations.

Based in world renowned Tropical North Queensland, this role will play a crucial part in driving the implementation of Terrain NRM’s Rainforest Aboriginal Peoples’ Participation Plan 2023-28 (RAPPP).

We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills in leading and supporting people within and beyond the organisation to build productive partnerships within the delivery of programs and projects. You will play a vital role in engaging with Wet Tropics Traditional Owners and First Nations people to foster inclusive partnerships with individuals, organisations and communities that support the delivery of natural resource management (NRM) outcomes within the Wet Tropics region.

We are looking for:

  • Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander person with firsthand knowledge of culture and communities.
  • A leader with experience in management, preferably in Indigenous community development or related fields.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to negotiate innovative solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in all aspects of project management, including budgeting and reporting.
  • A changemaker with a passion for the environment.

Where the successful candidate/s aspirations align strongly with the role but identify as requiring additional training or support to fulfil in full, Terrain NRM will commit to a training and development support plan and will include regular time built in to acquire to grow and develop in the role.

Terrain NRM is a leading not for profit environmental management organization with offices based out of Innisfail, Cairns, Tully and Atherton in Far North Queensland and were identified in the top 100 best places to work in 2022 by the Australian Financial Review. We think innovatively and act collaboratively to increase the resilience of the rainforests, reefs, landscapes and local communities of the Wet Tropics.

The details:

  • Based from any of Terrain NRM’s offices in Tropical North Queensland
  • Permanent, full-time (36.25 hours per week)

  • Attractive renumeration: $103,790- $112,344 per year

Under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), it is a genuine occupational requirement for the employee to be an Indigenous person.
