The team

The Digital, Data & Technology (DD&T) group is responsible for delivering transformational change and key technology related operational services across ASIC. The DD&T group includes Information Technology, Cyber Security, Data, Digital, Portfolio Office and Registry Connect (modernising ASIC’s Business Registers).

The DD&T Portfolio Office supports ASIC to deliver on its vision and strategic priorities through the provision of best-in-class delivery and support services. The team is responsible for governing, facilitating, delivering, assuring, and reporting on strategic programs of work whilst also uplifting the organisation’s capability in key areas such as change and project management.

The role 

As the Practice Lead for Project Management, you will lead a team providing ‘Centre of Excellence’ services in Program and Project Management. This includes the ASIC Project Methodology (APM), project risk, assurance, reporting, and governance. You will support governance secretariat functions and coordinate the new project pipeline. Additionally, you will onboard and coach Program and Project Managers to ensure they adopt the APM and agile practices, providing necessary support for successful project delivery.

Collaborating with the Portfolio Office Leadership team, you will offer ‘Centre of Excellence’ services to new programs and projects with a technology component. This includes guidance on position descriptions, methodologies, frameworks, tools, assurance, governance, and resource planning.

Success in this role depends on your ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with business stakeholders involved in technology-related projects and other DD&T functions such as IT, Digital, Data, Cyber Security, and corporate functions like People & Development, Finance, Risk, Property, and Protective Security.

You will be accountable for

  • Leading a team that provides ‘Centre of Excellence services’ in Program and Project Management, including ASIC Project Methodology (APM), project risk, assurance, reporting and governance.
  • Governance secretariat support and assist in the coordination of the new project pipeline.
  • Providing onboarding and coaching support to Program and Project Managers ensuring adoption of the ASIC Project Methodology (APM) and agile based ways of working. Ensures Project Managers clearly understand their responsibilities and provides the support and guidance required to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Working in collaboration with Portfolio Office Leadership team to provide ‘Centre of Excellence’ services and capabilities to new programs and projects, which have a technology component. Including guidance on position descriptions, methodologies, frameworks, tools, assurance, governance and resource planning.
  • Facilitating regular community of practice with all Project Managers across programs, share knowledge on methodology, lessons learnt and showcase project successes.
  • Liaising with Program and Project Managers, to ensure that status reporting for all projects are completed in a timely manner.
  • Establishing productive working relationships with other DD&T Functions: Information Technology, Digital, Data, Cyber Security and corporate functions, in particular: People & Development (Recruitment), Finance, Risk, Property and Protective Security.
  • Assisting in the management of the DD&T new project pipeline – ensuring all initiatives not captured during business planning and documented centrally. These projects will be presented to the Transformation Portfolio Sub-Committee for review and approval.

About you

  • Previous demonstrated experience managing project team members in a complex corporate or government environment. Project Management certifications are preferred (PRINCE2, MSP or Agile).
  • Significant previous experience in Enterprise program and/or project management and provision of ‘Centre of Excellence’ services.
  • Substantial demonstrated experience in onboarding and coaching Project Managers and provision of governance bodies secretariat support and reporting for senior level executives.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering projects in accordance with a Project Management methodology, preferably with experience delivering projects in accordance with Commonwealth Government guidelines for procurement, financial management and asset management.
  • High degree of organisational and time management skills with the ability to work to meet deadlines while managing several competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to articulate complex technical matters to users and able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Microsoft Office suite including Visio, Project and Azure Dev Ops, Peoplesoft and SharePoint knowledge an advantage.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or Business Management.
