Youth Participation Coordinator (Maternity Leave Replacement)
- Make a difference to young people
- Join an innovative and well recognised national Not for Profit
- Competitive salary, including generous salary packaging benefits
Established in 2006, headspace is a well-recognised national not-for-profit organisation making a difference to the lives of young people aged 12-25 years. headspace enables young people and their families to access information and support through a national network of centres and services, and drives community awareness and education about youth mental health, early intervention and help seeking.
An exciting opportunity exists to join headspace as a Youth Participation Coordinator, driving a new sector wide youth participation initiative. The purpose of this initiative is to provide young Australians with a lived mental health experience with the opportunity to engage with the public and the sector. This engagement will aim to promote mental health literacy, increase rates of help seeking behaviours and reduce stigma associated with mental health difficulties. The role will be required to work collaboratively with various teams at headspace National, the headspace Executive, national youth centred organisations and government departments.
Reporting to the Senior Youth and Family and Friends Participation Advisor, the Youth Participation Coordinator will be responsible for the recruitment, management and support of the group of young Australians involved in the initiative. You will design the new program in collaboration with key stakeholders and will also assist with the evaluation and reporting of program outcomes.
To be successful in this role, you will have degree level qualifications in Health, Education, Youth Work, a related discipline or relevant experience plus an understanding of contemporary youth participation models and experience in implementation of youth participation strategies. Your exceptional and engaging communication skills will enable you to build key stakeholder relationships both internally and externally. Naturally, you will have a passion for working with young people and excellent organisational skills.
In return we offer a flexible and dynamic environment where you have the opportunity to truly make a difference to young Australians. Remuneration is dependent on skills and experience, and includes generous salary packaging opportunities. The role is offered as a part time (0.5 FTE) and maternity leave replacement position until 31 December 2018.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.
