Established in 2006, headspace is a well-recognised national not-for-profit organisation making a difference to the lives of young people aged 12-25 years. headspace enables young people and their families to access information and support through a national network of centres and services, and drives community awareness and education about youth mental health, early intervention and help seeking.
An exciting role exists within headspace for an experienced project manager to aid with the delivery of schools training programs within the headspace in Schools department. A newly funded partnership with the Victorian Department of Education (DET) has allowed headspace to facilitate mental health programs in Victorian government schools – the initiative is known as Enhancing Mental Health Support in Schools. The training packages to be delivered through this initiative include SAFEMinds and Suicide Risk Continuum Training. The aim of this training is to help schools and their relevant workforce to build their capacity by focusing mainly on early intervention and intervention approaches in mental health and wellbeing.
Reporting to the headspace in Schools (hiS) Operations Manager, the Project Lead will work and collaborate with the DET, the broader hiS team and other departments within headspace to ensure successful outcomes for the project. The incumbent will possess strong knowledge and understanding of schools, student health and wellbeing and youth mental health. Leading a small team of Training Officers, the Project Lead will provide strategic leadership in service implementation, troubleshoot any challenges the project team face and ensure the quality of deliverables is of a high standard. The role will ensure all agreed timeframes of the project are met, by monitoring all aspects of its progress, holding accountability for key stakeholder relationships, executing the communication strategy and making strategic decisions and adjustments as required.
