As Australia’s first LNG hub, working on the Wheatstone Project will put you on the frontline to help deliver crucial energy to the world.

Chevron Australia has an exciting opportunity for Production Technician to join the Downstream Production team. Reporting to the Production Coordinator, this role will be based in Onslow, Western Australia on a rotational 10-week roster (two weeks on, two weeks off, two weeks on, four weeks off).

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the routine operation of systems, process and utility facilities and equipment on a designated area of the LNG plant
  • Follow routine procedures and initiate correct methods for developing non-routine procedures in area of responsibility
  • Follow procedures to ensure the safe operation of the plant including maintenance activities and return to service after maintenance
  • Complete handovers clearly and logically using “pro forma” documentation and communicate plant conditions accurately
  • Assist in providing work direction and training to less experienced Production Technicians as required
  • Deliver operational or training needs within area of competence on occasion
  • Ensure plant integrity is protected by vigilant monitoring of equipment in line with the commitments made as part of the safety case performance standards
  • Work with other members of the Operations teams to ensure maintenance and production schedules are maintained
  • Carry out maintenance tasks as allocated via the planned maintenance schedule that falls with competency level
  • Ensure guidelines, standing instructions and procedures are understood and adhered to
  • Comply with the permit to work system
  • Use the computerised maintenance management system to execute work and ensure historical data is entered and maintained
  • Monitor and seek to improve the team’s performance, suggesting and implementing where appropriate cost saving initiatives
  • Maintain area housekeeping at a level which ensures a safe and clean start-up and operational environment
  • Develop a basic understanding of the purpose, mechanics, and proper operation / maintenance of all the various production and utility equipment within work area
  • Contribute creative ideas and constructive advice to solve operational problems
  • Monitor maintenance and associated activities of third parties for compliance with permit to work, regulatory and health, environment and safety procedural requirements within area of designated responsibility
  • Commitment to health, environment and safety and Chevron best practices

Key skills and experience required:

  • At least 5 years frontline production technician experience working within a hydrocarbon processing plant (LNG, oil and gas, refinery, chemical processing)
  • Certificate III or IV in Process Operations preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in permit to work and simultaneous operations (SIMOPS)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and non-verbal) skills Ability to work independently or as part of a team according to task requirements
  • Be eligible for a marine security identification card
  • Understanding of chemical and physical behaviour and hazards associated with hydrocarbon gases and liquids
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and build key relationships that contribute to business results
