Chevron Australia has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Gorgon Production Specialist to join the Gorgon Operations Production team. This permanent role will be based on Barrow Island, reporting to the Production Coordinator on a 10-week roster – two weeks on, two weeks off, two weeks on, four weeks off.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure plant operations are compliant with Chevron Australia health, environment and safety (HES) procedures and regulations
  • Promote a positive safety culture by developing, implementing and championing safety procedures
  • Follow routine procedures and initiate correct methods for developing non-routine procedures in area of responsibility
  • Complete handovers clearly and logically using “pro forma” documentation and communicate plant conditions accurately
  • Provide work direction, training and mentoring to all Production Technicians in assigned areas
  • Ensure plant integrity is protected by vigilant monitoring of equipment in line with the commitments made as part of the safety case performance standards
  • Report all parameters / conditions found outside normal operating guidelines to the Production Coordinator
  • Validate plant maintenance routines and procedures, and recommend changes if required
  • Liaise with the Maintenance team and advise the Maintenance Coordinator of any abnormal operations or potential failure of equipment that could lead to unsafe conditions
  • Take responsibility for resolving problems, issues, or questions for specific systems and apply technical skills to solve operational problems
  • Monitor maintenance and associated activities of third parties for compliance with permit to work, regulatory and HES procedural requirements within area of designated responsibility, including the central control room
  • Commitment to health, environment and safety and Chevron best practices

Key skills and experience required:

  • A minimum of five years’ experience as a Frontline Production Technician working within a complex hydrocarbons or chemical processing environment
  • Certificate IV in process plant operations is desirable
  • Extremely high level of safety awareness
  • Strong problem solving skills gained from past experience solving operational issues
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and build key relationships that contribute to high-class business results
