How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne…

You will be responsible for supporting a number of key service areas within the Melbourne City Baths (MCB) to facilitate the growth potential of a high quality, safe, professional and responsive well-being, health and fitness service.

The key focus of this position is to coordinate high quality programs and services, including aquatic education, massage, squash, in addition to efficient management of facility bookings and all associated administration.  Contractor and stakeholder management, particularly ensuring maximum participation, customer satisfaction and efficient management of resources is key.

In this position you will work closely with the operations manager and other service area managers, coordinators and officers to provide input to the development of products and services that meet the needs of the target markets. You may also be required to support and guide the North Melbourne Recreation Centre team to implement the outdoor aquatic education program.

The successful candidate will require the following qualifications:

  • AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety (or equivalent) or willingness to obtain within a reasonable agreed timeframe
  • Desirable additional units: Teacher of Infants, Adults, Disabilities, or Towards Competitive Strokes
  • A current Pool Lifeguard certificate and experience supervising patrons at an aquatic facility, or willingness to obtain certificate within four weeks of appointment
  • A current level two First Aid certificate or willingness to obtain certificate within four weeks of appointment
  • A valid Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain as part of the recruitment process

Desirable:

  • Pool Operations course / Aquatic Technical Operator certificate or equivalent

  • Ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values – accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence
  • Proven ability to lead, develop and motivate a team.
  • Proven ability to implement changes to grow an aquatic education program.
  • Management experience within the leisure industry, ideally in a similar role with like responsibilities including aquatic education or other complex program management.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, set, measure and achieve specific key performance indicators required for decision making in relation to aquatic education, private swim lessons, squash and massage program management.
  • AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety (or equivalent) or willingness to obtain certificate within four weeks of appointment.
  • A current Pool Lifeguard certificate and experience supervising patrons at an aquatic facility, or willingness to obtain certificate within four weeks of appointmen
    • Units of competency
      • SISCAQU002 – Perform basic water rescues
      • SISCAQU006 – Supervise clients in an aquatic locations
      • SISCAQU007 – Perform advanced water rescue
      • HLTAID001 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • A current level two First Aid certificate or willingness to obtain certificate within four weeks of appointment.
    • Units of competency
      • HLTAID003 – Provide first aid
      • HLTAID002 – Provide basic emergency life support
      • HLTAID001 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Desirable:

  • Teacher of Infants and preschool, Adults, Access and Inclusion, Towards Competitive Strokes or willingness to obtain within a reasonable agreed timeframe
  • Pool Operations course / Aquatic Technical Operator certificate or equivalent
  • Knowledge of the Royal Life Saving Swim and Survive program criteria
  • Advanced knowledge and capability using Links point of sale system, including  classes module, memberships (including direct debits), facility bookings and reporting
  • A commercial focus with an operational understanding of a local government run facility
  • Previous experience with massage; including OHS requirements, quality and retention.
  • Understanding of current trends and issues facing the health and fitness industry.
