Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Rehabilitation and Support Worker

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Rehabilitation and Support Worker position will provide a range of rehabilitation and support specifically to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers, tailoring support to meet their individual needs.

About the Role

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Rehabilitation and Support Worker position will provide a range of rehabilitation and support specifically to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers, tailoring support to meet their individual needs. Neami National’s work with consumers occurs within their own community of friends, family and neighbourhood. You will work closely within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, with clinical case managers and other community partner organisations in order to deliver the best possible comprehensive service to consumers.

In this position, you will:
Engage consumers and develop trusting and professional relationships
Provide direct support and rehabilitation to consumers within their community
Work collaboratively with consumers to identify their needs, set goals and develop a plan to meet those goals
Work with community partners
Assist consumers to participate in recreation activities and the cultural life of the community by supporting the development of interpersonal skills
What will you bring to the role?
Relevant experience in a similar role
Willingness to work effectively as part of a team to meet program goals and objectives
Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
An understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, and
An ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.

Mandatory requirements:
Current Working with Children Check
Driver’s licence
Police check (refer to PD) – disclosable outcomes considered
