<p><strong>About the Role</strong></p>
<p>The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Rehabilitation and Support Worker position will provide a range of rehabilitation and support specifically to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers, tailoring support to meet their individual needs. Neami National’s work with consumers occurs within their own community of friends, family and neighbourhood. You will work closely within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, with clinical case managers and other community partner organisations in order to deliver the best possible comprehensive service to consumers.</p>
<p>In this position, you will:<br />
Engage consumers and develop trusting and professional relationships<br />
Provide direct support and rehabilitation to consumers within their community<br />
Work collaboratively with consumers to identify their needs, set goals and develop a plan to meet those goals<br />
Work with community partners<br />
Assist consumers to participate in recreation activities and the cultural life of the community by supporting the development of interpersonal skills<br />
What will you bring to the role?<br />
Relevant experience in a similar role<br />
Willingness to work effectively as part of a team to meet program goals and objectives<br />
Highly developed written and verbal communication skills<br />
An understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, and<br />
An ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.</p>

<p><strong>About the role</strong></p>
<p>The Kimberley Indigenous Ranger Threatened Species Program involves WWF working with Indigenous communities and partners to conserve and sustainably manage biodiversity.  The role specifically oversees the planning and delivery of field work by surveying and mapping threatened species.  Additionally, the role contributes to the broader program by co-creating conservation management plans and developing engaging content, such as photos and stories that connect WWF donors to the onground work undertaken to save threatened species.</p>

<p><strong>Skills, knowledge and experience</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience in conservation biology and ecology-based programs, preferably relating to Australian threatened species.</li>
<li>A track record of carrying out scientific fieldwork, including experience in designing/coordinating trips and conducting research.</li>
<li>Demonstrated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural competence and a track record of building trusted working relationships with Traditional Owners.</li>
<li>Well-developed verbal, written and communication skills and ability to capture content for digital channels (e.g. website, blogs, social media).</li>
<li>Organisational and time management skills.</li>
<li>An ability to work both autonomously and as member of a team.</li>
<li>Intermediate level competence in Microsoft Office applications.</li>
</ul>
<p>It is desirable that applicants have:</p>
<ul>
<li>An understanding of the socio-politics of the environment and conservation in northern Australia;</li>
<li>A knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety, preferably relating to remote field work;</li>
<li>Local networks within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities</li>
<li>Geographic Information Systems (GIS), video, photography and/or social media skills;</li>
</ul>
<p>Ideally, you will have tertiary qualifications in nature conservation, environmental management or natural resource management or relevant equivalent experience, remote first aid certification or willingness to obtain one, a driver’s licence with 4WD experience.</p>
