<p>Anglicare’s Children &amp; Families have a long history of providing family and children support services, including family intervention, foster and kinship care, counselling, relationship support and much more. Our Foster &amp; Kinship Care Programs provide children and young people, who are not able to live with their own family, the opportunity to live in a safe nurturing family environment. We are currently looking for a Support Worker &#8211; Cultural to work across multiple programs, delivering practical supports to clients in line with their individual intervention, support or care plans. There will be a strong focus on supporting non-Indigenous foster carers and staff to better understand the needs of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children in care and to respond in a holistic way that considers family, spiritual, community and individual needs. This is a full time, fixed term contract until August 2018, based in Logan and covering the surrounding region including parts of the Gold Coast.</p>

<p><strong>About You</strong></p>
<p>Offering a background in child, youth or family support, you will have a passion for cultural awareness and a focus on the best possible outcome for children. Your abilities will include:</p>
<ul>
<li>Support services to vulnerable children &amp; families and an understanding of the impact statutory systems can have</li>
<li>Demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and identify with this heritage</li>
<li>Experience in culturally sensitive intervention strategies with families caring for children at risk of, or in, statutory care</li>
<li>Development of meaningful connections for children of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island heritage to their family, community, country &amp; culture</li>
<li>A dedication to providing support, training and advice to non-Indigenous Foster Carers and staff to develop their cultural understanding</li>
<li>Assist to implement relevant cultural plans and journeys for young people and their family</li>
</ul>
<p>Your ability to work effectively as part of a care team will be coupled with:</p>
<ul>
<li>Exceptional communication skills including the capacity to relate effectively with management, staff, carers, children and their families</li>
<li>A ‘can do’ attitude and proactive approach to problem solving and creating successful outcomes</li>
<li>Respect for the confidentiality of all parties and an understanding of each child’s individual journey</li>
<li>A willingness and enthusiasm to couple with statutory child protection services, and other external stakeholders to provide best outcome</li>
<li>Strong time management, prioritisation and collaboration skills, with experience of working to deadlines in a changing environment</li>
</ul>
<p>To be successful in this role, you will need:</p>
<ul>
<li>It is a genuine occupational requirement of this role to identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, under S25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld)</li>
<li>A Certificate IV in Child, Youth &amp; Family, Community Services, Youth Work or similar. A degree level qualification is desired</li>
<li>A valid Blue Card (Working with Children)</li>
<li>A current Queensland Driver Licence and the ability to work flexible hours which will include mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends</li>

<p>InComPro is a not for profit organisation specialising in the support of Aboriginal people and provides a range of services including supported accommodation, respite services, tenancy support and community and cultural engagement for people with a disability or complex needs. Additionally, InComPro provides support services to youth including mentoring, supported accommodation and case management.</p>
<p>InComPro are looking to employ multiple youth workers to support our youth clients. Successful applicants will be responsible for delivering mentoring services to young people through engaging with mentees and encouraging their involvement in a range of activities that are age appropriate, suit their abilities and are consistent with their needs and interests. You will provide individualised support to young people through role modelling, facilitating personal development and encouraging mentees to participate in their community.<br />
This is a casual position offering 6 hours per fortnight per mentee.</p>
<p><strong><em><u>About You:</u></em></strong></p>
<ul>
<li>An understanding of the particular cultural support needs of Aboriginal and other young people from culturally diverse backgrounds.</li>
<li>Possess the ability to build a positive and non-judgemental relationship with clients, showing respect for the client’s feelings and needs.</li>
<li>Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.</li>
<li>The ability to engage with young people and to encourage their involvement in a wide range of activities.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong><em><u>Essential requirements</u></em></strong></p>
<ul>
<li>You will have the relevant Department of Communities &amp; Social Inclusion (DCSI) clearances.</li>
<li>A current First Aid certificate.</li>
<li>A current South Australian driver’s licence.</li>
<li>A current Child Safe Environment Certificate.</li>
<li>Certificate IV Youth Work is desirable but not essential.</li>
</ul>
